Ban price-based drinks advertising – SLTA boss

The leader of Scotland’s biggest licensees’ group has this week called for a ban on price-based alcohol advertising. Addressing the annual AGM and conference of the Scottish Licensed Trade Association in Aberdeen on March 5, chief executive Paul Waterson said the move is the next logical step in the fight against alcohol misuse.

Inverarity Morton takes trade bow

A new force in Scottish drinks wholesaling was born last week, bringing together two of the country’s most established, family-owned suppliers. Inverarity Morton is the result of last summer’s merger between composite wholesaler William Morton and Inverarity Vaults. Glasgow-based Morton, acquired the fast-growing Inverarity for an undisclosed sum in July. Initially, the companies continued to run separately, allowing bosses to assess them.
