Highlands hospitality and travel company Cru Holdings recently took the 10 top winners of its annual Team Achievement and Recognition Awards for four nights at an all-inclusive, five-star retreat on the Turkish Riviera.

Glasgow-based brothers Alasdair and Gordon Stevenson are on a mission to disrupt the whisky industry status quo – starting with this week’s launch of the first three of their new ‘Turntable’ range of whisky blends.

Launching to the on-trade this month, the 4.4% ABV lager is available exclusively on draught, positioned to help operators offer their customers ‘a great quality experience at an accessible price point’.

While the classic combinations should prove popular with consumers looking for comfort cuisine, there is also scope to tap into a growing appetite for more international ‘street food’-style dishes and flavours.  

The first wave of this new branded collection comprises three top drams from distilleries in Speyside, Islay and the Highlands, with the Speyside matured for seven years, and both the Highland and Islay whiskies matured for nine years, before bottling in Leith.

Cider makers up and down the country will be taking part, from micro-businesses to household names, with events organised from the cider heartlands of the West Country and the apple gardens of Kent, to cutting edge urban cider works.

The business, owned by managing director Sonja Mitchell, currently produces a range of four beers – Yardarm Lager, Goosewing IPA, Flying Colours Pale Ale and Stoker’s Stout – as well as seasonal and limited-edition products.
