SLTN Award-winning venue takes top title from the AA
SLTN Award-winning venue The Boar’s Head in Auchtermuchty has added to its list of accolades by being named the best restaurant with rooms in Scotland by the AA.
The business, owned and operated by Justina Jonikaite and David Nolan, was recently awarded a 4-star rating from the AA and recognised in the organisation’s Restaurant with Rooms category. It comes after The Boar’s Head launched its four boutique rooms in 2025, complimenting the venue’s established food and drink offer.
As AA Restaurant with Rooms of the Year Scotland, The Boar’s Head will now compete against winners from around the UK at the AA Hospitality Awards in September.

Opened in 2021, The Boar’s Head was named SLTN New Business of the Year in 2022 and SLTN Gastropub of the Year in 2024 and 2025.
The business has built a reputation for its seasonal menus and use of fresh, Scottish produce.
Current examples include hand-dived Scottish scallops with lobster bisque and julienne vegetables, Perthshire wood pigeon with salt-baked beetroot and white port thyme sauce, Balcaskie Estate hogget with salsa verde and ribbons of courgette, and wild venison served with petit pois à la française, smoked pancetta and oyster mushrooms.
Justina said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been named AA Restaurant with Rooms of the Year. This award is a fantastic recognition of the passion, dedication and hard work of our entire team, who strive every day to deliver exceptional food, genuine hospitality and memorable experiences for every guest who walks through our doors.
“The addition of our boutique rooms has been an exciting new chapter for the business, and to receive this level of recognition so soon after opening them is incredibly rewarding.”
