THE Mercat Grill in Musselburgh is doing its bit for Edinburgh’s four-legged friends with a sizeable donation to the Edinburgh Dog & Cat Home (EDCH).
The pet-friendly bar and restaurant has raised £1400 for the shelter through recent charity events as well as a fundraising calendar. The Mercat hosts a ‘Yappy Hour’ event each month, where owners and their pets can enjoy some food and drink, with proceeds going to the EDCH.
“We are passionate about dogs and cats and with becoming a dog owner this year for the first time – it’s fuelled my motivation to do even more for those animals that need our support,” said Mercat owner Graham Blaikie.
“The EDCH do a crucial job in providing a safe shelter for owners that can no longer care for their dogs and cats and with the cost-of-living crisis, resulting in more animals needing help – we need to do everything we can to help support this charity.”
Katie Kennedy of the Edinburgh Dog & Cat Home said: “The support from businesses like the Mercat Grill mean the world to everyone at Edinburgh Dog & Cat Home, including our furry friends! A £1400 donation helps massively towards the running of our services, and will ensure that the dogs, cats and humans who come to the home desperately seeking our help get the respect, care and attention they need this winter.”
