RENOWNED chef and restaurateur Nick Nairn has transformed his former Cook School building in Stirlingshire into a new restaurant and retail space.
Nick’s at Port of Menteith is operated by Nick and wife Julia and features a daily-changing menu built around the best locally-sourced seasonal produce, including langoustines, lobster and beef. There is also a specialist pizza offer overseen by pizza chef Paul Hughes.
The restaurant seats 40 inside with a sizeable outdoor space seating a further 100 covers under a stretch tent.
In addition to the restaurant spaces, the venue also incorporates a new ‘lifestyle store’, selling cookware and cookery books, tableware and locally-made items such as textiles, lighting, glassware and candles.
“This has been an incredibly tumultuous year for our family and our business so Nick’s at Port of Menteith heralds an exciting moment for the whole team,” said Nick.
“We’ve developed things that we, and many others, have taken pleasure from during lockdown – from outdoor eating in beautiful natural surroundings to the simplicity of enjoying really great food and drink in a relaxed setting. I’m really looking forward to sharing this special place and being able to develop dishes from the best ingredients I can source on a daily basis.”
Nick’s at Port of Menteith opens Thursday to Sunday. It joins Nairn’s other restaurants, Nick’s on Henderson Street in Bridge of Allan, and The Kailyard by Nick Nairn in Dunblane.
