Stirlingshire producer launches augmented reality labels across range
A STIRLINGSHIRE gin producer reckons it is the first in the UK to launch a “full augmented reality experience” across its range of gins via its own brand app.
McQueen Gin has today (2nd February) launched the augmented reality (AR) labels, which “come to life to create an immersive experience for gin drinkers”.
Labels on each of the six-strong range (Highland Dry Gin, Colour Changing, Blackcurrant & Raspberry, Citron, Five Chilli, and Black Cherry & Vanilla) can be scanned via the McQueen Gin app to showcase the story behind each gin through a full-length animation. The app also features McQueen Gin cocktail recipes.
The augmented reality (AR) technology has taken six months to develop following an ÂŁ20,000 investment by McQueen Gin.
Dale and Vicky McQueen, who founded McQueen Gin in 2015, said the launch of the augmented reality labels and app is part of the company’s ethos of “doing things differently”.
“We wanted to make not just an enjoyable tasting gin but an experience which would bond people together and give them something other than great taste to talk about,” said Dale.
“We have achieved this through the new McQueen Gin app, which allows the user to view the augmented reality experience by simply opening the app and pointing their camera at the front label.
“Not only are we the first Scottish gin company to integrate augmented reality, we believe that we are the first gin company in the whole of the UK to fully integrate augmented reality into our label design with our own dedicated app, showcasing how McQueen continues to lead the industry in innovation.”
