PUB company Star Pubs & Bars has announced that its Scottish lessees will continue to receive a 90% rent reduction while premises are required to remain closed.
The concession, which will apply regardless of whether a premises offers a takeaway service, also covers Star’s pubs in England and Wales.
Star Pubs & Bars claims the move represents an investment of ÂŁ4 million for the month of January.
It said it will continue to keep the rent reduction under “constant review”, taking in factors such as alterations to government policy, level/tier restrictions and additional government support for the sector.
Managing director Lawson Mountstevens said: “Pubs, through no fault of their own, are being put in jeopardy by this latest lockdown and the wellbeing of those working in them put under enormous strain. We are doing our part to support our licensees through these difficult times, including continuing to invest heavily in rent concessions.”
