STAR Pubs & Bars has joined forces with local operator Caygill and Smith Ltd to get a new venture off the ground on the site of the former Jock’s Lodge on the outskirts of Edinburgh.
The pub company is said to have invested £280,000 on a major refurbishment to create a blues fusion bar in the outlet which has been closed for three years.
Renamed the Barrelhouse Bar and Diner, the new venue is scheduled to open in late November and is expected to play host to a number of blues fusion bands from around the world, while serving up a menu of Cajun and BBQ food with a Scottish twist.
The refurbishment is part of a £2 million investment by Star Pubs in its Scottish outlets this year.
Star Pubs MD Lawson Mountstevens said that Edinburgh city centre venues have had “significant investment” in recent years and “residents in more outer lying areas now want to enjoy similar quality and great food, coffee and entertainment on their doorsteps throughout the day without needing to travel”.
