Making a Home in Edinburgh

A new restaurant aiming to support the homeless opened in Edinburgh last month.

Home, situated in the west end of the city on Queensferry Street, is the brainchild of restaurateur Dean Gassabi of the Masion Bleue restaurant group and entrepreneur Josh Littlejohn, who is behind the Social Bite chain of sandwich shops, which gives all its profits to charity.
With capacity for 70 covers, Home offers a mix of Scottish and French cuisine.
All profits from the new eatery will go to charity; 50% will go directly to Social Bite, the other 50% will support other charities.
Alongside a core professional staff, Home provides training and employment programmes for members of the Social Bite Academy – the charity’s four-year, paid course for homeless people.
Diners are encouraged to ‘pay forward’ meals for the homeless. And every Monday afternoon from 3pm to 5pm the restaurant is open for a special service for the homeless.
