THE licensing of adult entertainment venues such as lapdancing clubs should be handled under existing civic legislation, rather than establishing a new regulatory system, according to the Scottish Beer & Pub Association.
Responding to the Scottish Government consultation on adult entertainment venues, the trade group, which represents more than 1000 pubs across Scotland, supported plans to regulate such venues separately from the sale of alcohol, but expressed concern over the cost of establishing a new system.
SBPA chief executive Patrick Browne said, because of the comparatively small number of lapdancing clubs in operation across Scotland, “we believe it may make more sense to bring these venues under the scope of the existing public entertainment licensing arrangements”.
