Blantyre’s Crossbasket Castle is nearly ready to unveil ‘one of Scotland’s most exciting five-star hospitality experiences’, including the launch of a new restaurant by Michelin Star Chef Michel Roux.
Following a £20million investment, the five-star South Lanarkshire hotel will open its new luxury bedrooms and destination restaurant and cocktail bar Trocadero’s to welcome guests from Sunday 16 March, 2025.
The new hotel sits within the grand estate of the historic castle and sees the addition of 40 upscale bedrooms alongside the brand-new entertainment-led Trocadero’s dining experience, overseen by Chef Roux.
Already one of Scotland’s leading luxury wedding destinations, Crossbasket Castle’s expansion starts its next chapter, as it promises to add something ‘entirely unique’ to the luxury hotel market.
Every design aspect of the new hotel has been overseen by owner Alison Timoney, who with Steve Timoney took over ownership of Crossbasket Castle in 2011.
Consisting of two grand suites, four junior suites, eight deluxe rooms and twenty-six classic double/twin rooms, the new hotel is said to be the result of ‘years of meticulous planning’.
The new Trocadero’s restaurant and cocktail bar promises to transport guests to a ‘magical bygone era’ with the best musical entertainment, immersive dining experiences and crafted cocktail and drinks offerings.
Taking its name from the beloved 1950s dance hall in the local town of Hamilton, Trocadero’s claims to have one of the most sophisticated live performance set-ups in Britain.
The advanced sound stage houses a state-of-the-art Cadac sound desk and Funktion 1 speakers as part of its technical system, positioning Trocadero’s as a stage for both world-renowned and emerging artists and musicians.
Alison Timoney said: “We are very excited to be announcing an opening date of 16 March 2025 for the new 40-bed hotel and Trocadero’s.
“A tribute to the elegance and allure of a bygone era, we wanted to create a destination where guests could escape the ordinary and immerse themselves in a world of glamour and sophistication, whilst enjoying the full experience that only the finest live music and entertainment can provide.
“We have an incredibly talented team, who have worked in some of the most respected five-star venues in the world and have been hand chosen to bring this unrivalled experience to us here in Scotland.”
Managing director of Crossbasket Castle, Graeme Green, added: “We have taken exceptional care of all the finer details, and it is thrilling to be upon the moment where we are about to open our doors, and welcome our first guests. Every aspect has been meticulously orchestrated to deliver an unparalleled experience and our entire team are immensely proud of what they are part of.
“Be assured that Crossbasket Castle is going to be the pinnacle of hotel excellence in Scotland.”
Once complete, the venue will have capacity for an additional 35,000 visitors each year and provide over 50 jobs for the local area, delivering a projected economic boost to the South Lanarkshire economy of £5m per annum.
The luxury Four Angels Spa is scheduled to open at Crossbasket Castle in Autumn 2025, alongside two new eco-cottages set within the castle’s 14-acre estate.
