Glasgow sports bar The Raven returns after £500,000 makeover

Reopening to customers just in time for this summer’s World Cup, the Signature Group’s flagship Glasgow sports bar The Raven has been transformed by a £500,000 makeover.

The Renfield Street pub is now said to offer ‘the best sporting experience in the city’, with state-of-the-art audio visual technology, including one wall of 8 HD TV screens, plus 20 further screens around the venue.

That 8-screen wall is the focal point of The Raven’s new dedicated sports viewing zone – The Arena – which offers more space for groups and matchday packages.

Overall, the venue has been given a brighter ‘retro American’ sports bar feel, complete with La-Z-Boy seating for prime viewing and a choice of comfortable booths that can be booked in advance.

Its first-floor area has been equipped with two electric darts oches, one new pool table and a dedicated bar, that can also be privately booked.

Signature Group’s food development manager Emma Clark-Szabo has also led an overhaul of the menu, leaning into the match-day vibe with pizza doughnuts, a choice of Detroit pizzas, burgers, hot dogs and sandwiches, plus deep-fried mars bars and toffee apple pecan pie sundaes.

The reopened venue is offering a special £12 lunch deal includes Texas toasties, brisket dogs, Raven Philly cheesesteaks and a free soft drink. There are also midweek drinks deals, including pints from £3.50, glasses of wine from £5 and a choice of cocktails from £5.

General manager at The Raven, Stuart Harrison, said: “We’re back just in time for this summer’s World Cup with an epic new look and the ultimate sporting experience in the city.

“We’re already making our name as the go-to sports venue in Glasgow, complete with new sports viewing zone, La-Z-Boy seating for prime viewing and matchday packages for groups.

“We also have an incredible food and drink offer, including our new pizza doughnuts and Detroit Pizzas.”

Business development director for Signature Group, Louise MacLean, added: “There’s no better place in Glasgow to cheer Scotland on during the World Cup than at The Raven. We’re also offering a free pint of Cold Town Beer for each customer with every match Scotland wins during this year’s tournament.”
