With the 2026 World Cup less than a month from kick off, Glasgow sports bar The Raven – part of the Signature Group – is getting itself match-fit with a £500,000 makeover.

An interior design transformation is underway to turn the Renfield Street venue into the ‘go-to live sports venue’ in Glasgow, with a capacity for over 400 people.

State of the art audio visual media technology is being installed, including one digital wall of 8 HD TV screens and 20 screens to choose from around the venue.

A central part of the overhaul will be the creation of a new sports viewing zone – dubbed ‘The Arena’ – which will offer more space for groups and matchday packages.

Overall, the design concept promises a ‘brighter, retro American sports bar feel’ with a modern industrial edge, complete with ‘lazy boy’ seating for prime viewing and a choice of booths that can be booked in advance.

Meanwhile, the venue’s first-floor area is being equipped with three electric darts oches, one new pool table and a dedicated bar that can also be privately booked.

Signature Group director Nic Wood said: “It’s time to give The Raven the glow-up it deserves and make it the go-to sports venue in Glasgow from Friday 12th June.

“With the World Cup kicking off in June, it’s the ideal time for us to be investing in this significant makeover project. We’re using state of the art audio visual media technology to create the ultimate sporting experience in the city.

“It’s vital that we create the best customer experience at The Raven. From an incredible food and drink offer, right through to the entertainment we can provide.”

The Raven currently supports over 30 local hospitality jobs, including front of house and kitchen.

Its makeover project is using a number of Glasgow firms, with a team of 18 local builders and shopfitters now at work, including AJ Build & Manage Ltd and the Severino Group. The design of the venue is being led by Tibbatts Abel.
