Clarets, the latest venture from The Rocca Group, has opened at The R&A World Golf Museum, overlooking the world-famous Old Course in St Andrews.
Occupying a single-level space with seating for 60 guests, Clarets has been designed to offer a ‘refined yet welcoming’ environment for the Fife town’s many golf-inclined visitors.
Positioned with panoramic views across that iconic Old Course, the St Andrews coastline and the Royal & Ancient Clubhouse, Clarets promises to deliver an all-day dining experience unlike any other in town.
A mix of raised seating and relaxed lounge areas shapes the space, offering a variety of dining experiences, from casual, sociable moments to more intimate, comfortable settings throughout the day.
The interiors feature a palette of Claret’s signature deep burgundy tones, complemented by soft greys and natural textures, in an effort to create a warm and inviting environment that nods to the game of golf’s traditions while maintaining a contemporary edge.
Guests dine surrounded by an extraordinary collection of golfing memorabilia, including historic trophies and claret jugs from the past and present, placing them at the heart of golfing history.
“Blending design, atmosphere and heritage, Clarets delivers what can only be described as a golfer’s paradise for dining in Scotland – where world-class views, rich history and exceptional hospitality come together in one unforgettable setting,” declared the opening statement.
Stefano Pieraccini, managing director of The Rocca Group, said: “Opening Clarets here is incredibly meaningful for us.
“St Andrews is a place with such history and character, and we wanted to create a restaurant that reflects that — not just in the setting, but in the atmosphere, the food and the experience.
“To be able to welcome guests into a space overlooking the Old Course, surrounded by that history, is something very special.”
The restaurant has launched with a breakfast and lunch menu that evolves into a relaxed brasserie-style experience in the evenings. Dinner service, launching this Easter, will introduce an ‘approachable yet elevated evening menu designed to complement the venue’s remarkable setting.
Its weekly Sunday roasts, offering a traditional experience in an extraordinary location, are expected to become a highlight for both locals and visitors.

Clarets is also available for private hire, accommodating up to 100 guests standing or 60 seated, for celebrations, corporate gatherings and bespoke events. There are also plans for special speaker dinners featuring figures from the golfing world.
The Rocca Group other venue’s include The Seafood Ristorante in St Andrews; The Broughton, a contemporary gastropub in Edinburgh’s New Town; and Café Calton, a day-to-night restaurant on Calton Hill in Edinburgh City Centre.
