A traditional North-east restaurant and pub has been praised in the Scottish Parliament, after receiving a TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice Award 2023.

The Ploughman Restaurant and Sports Bar in Peterculter, Aberdeen, was highlighted by local MSP Liam Kerr via a parliamentary motion congratulating the business on the accolade.

Kerr’s motion, which received support from 29 other MSPs, was: “That the Parliament congratulates the Ploughman Restaurant and Sports Bar in Peterculter, Aberdeen on winning a TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice Award 2023; understands that the honour represents The Ploughman being named one of the 10% of restaurants worldwide; further understands that TripAdvisor recognises customer’s favourite restaurants around the world based on ratings and reviews; believes that customer reviews and ratings for The Ploughman helped secure the win, and wishes all The Ploughman’s staff continued success and repeat business in the future.”

The Ploughman, a large pub and restaurant noted for its traditional Scottish fayre, is co-owned by Alistair Dornan and his friend and business partner, Simon Cruickshank, who assumed ownership of the business in 2019.

Alistair said: “We are thrilled to be recognised at Scottish Parliament and we extend our gratitude to Liam Kerr and the other MSPs for acknowledging our TripAdvisor award success. This is a first for us and it truly validates the hard work and dedication of our team at The Ploughman.”
