Scottish cocktail venues take London by storm

SCOTTISH bars stormed the British capital this month with a series of takeovers for London Cocktail Week.

Kicking off on Thursday 12th October with two takeovers by SLTN Awards finalists Hey Palu and Absent Ear – which have both made the shortlist for SLTN Cocktail Bar of the Year – the takeovers continued at various venues until 22nd October.

Hey Palu took over Shoreditch bar Christine’s while, in Soho, The Absent Ear was behind the stick at The Lower Third.

The Hey Palu team struck again on Sunday 15th when bartender Sean Cavanagh took over at Milestone Hotel in Kensington.

On Tuesday 17th it was the turn of Aberdeen’s Orchid, when the team hosted a takeover at Fitz’s Bar on Russell Square, with Hey Palu springing back into action the same night at Callooh Callay in Shoreditch.

Thursday 18th saw sister bars Hoot the Redeemer and Nauticus take over Swift Borough, a stone’s throw from London Bridge, while big brother Panda & Sons was in action at Kettner’s Studio in Soho.

London Cocktail Week closed on 22nd October when Edinburgh cocktail institution Bramble hosted a takeover at The Lower Third.
