Rod Stewart raises a glass of Wolfie’s Scotch to his rascally past

Legendary singer Rod Stewart is appealing to the Young Turks – and perhaps also the older Turks – with the launch of his first Scotch whisky.

Wolfie’s is a blended Scotch described as being a ‘unique blend of rock-n-roll roots, Americana and Scottish heritage’.

Though the distillation partner hasn’t been officially named, the whisky is said to be ‘distilled on the shores of Loch Lomond’ before being matured in ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at 40% ABV.

The base of the bottle features the words ‘Rhythm of My Heart’, the title of the opening track from Rod’s 1991 album, Vagabond Heart.

The tune was a nod to the singer’s own Scottish heritage – he had Scottish and English parents – with the melody having been adapted from the traditional folk song, Loch Lomond.

“Wolfie’s is a rascal of a thing and with just a sip the whisky takes you back to the good old days,” said the man himself.

“Fine-tuned and perfectly balanced, Wolfie’s is a delight both over ice and mixed into a favourite cocktail, It’s a fine tipple, whether you’re partying with friends, celebrating a Celtic win or reminiscing with family.

“For me, Wolfie’s depicts the carefree behaviour of my more mischievous days and the excitement of what life still has to offer – let the good times roll!”

A number of serves are being promoted for the whisky, including the Appletini, which mixes Wolfie’s with apple schnapps, lemon juice and apple juice, and the Lychee Martini, which mixes the spirit with lychee liquor, lime juice, cranberry juice and sugar syrup.
