Newton Stewart’s award-winning craft spirit producer Crafty Distillery has appointed Nicky Docherty as its new distillery manager.
The Galloway company hailed ‘an exciting new era’, allowing distillery founders Graham Taylor and Craig Rankin to expand on six successful years of ‘pushing the boundaries’ of spirit taste and quality.
Craig now takes on Crafty’s commercial director and master distiller roles, creating more space for both Graham and himself to focus on global expansion, while creating space for a new distillery manager.
Nicky brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm having been integral to the Ardnamurchan Distillery since its inception. He was was attracted to the role by Crafty’s ‘no stone unturned passion’ for distilling and the opportunity to grow their single malt Scotch whisky production.
Founders Graham and Craig started out with a ‘spirit-first ethos’ which has resulted in a field to glass process for their Billy & Co Single Malt Whisky, 24Seven Vodka and Hills & Harbour Gins, with their base spirit being made in house from local wheat.
