Top club DJ Jasper James has been confirmed as the headline act at the first of The Ben’s new calendar of events for young people working in the hospitality sector.
‘The Ben at Boxhub’ takes place this week, in Glasgow’s Washington St on Thursday 10th August, kicking off a long term effort to modernise the charity’s profile by offering ‘new, fresh, fun, unique experiences’ targeted at a younger audience.
The Jasper James show is exclusively for members of the drinks and hospitality industry and is emphatically not a fundraiser. The Ben’s motivation is purely to raise awareness of its name and activities amongst the industry’s young team – and director James McGuire reckons the best way to do that is by throwing a good party.
“These are going to be good events,” said James, who has another one already planned on Tuesday 3rd October, at Platform, under Glasgow’s Central Station Bridge.
“We are keeping the ticket prices way down for what is on offer, so they are going to sell out and we will lose money on them. We plan to keep on adding to the calendar, so there will always be new things for the industry’s youth to look forward to.
“We want to bring young people into the fold – there shouldn’t be a venue in Scotland where you walk in and the people behind the bar don’t know who and what The Ben is.”
Promising a ‘unique mix of electrifying beats and infectious rhythms’ Jasper James is supported by a strong lineup of DJs to keep the party going all from 6pm til ‘late’ – Robbie McGrory, DJ Barback, and Dominiquedii – and there’s only a limited number of the surprisingly cheap tickets left on the Skiddle tickets website.
