Islay native takes the reins at Lagavulin

ISLAY native Jordan Paisley has been named as the new manager of the Lagavulin distillery on Islay.

Paisley has worked for parent company Diageo as performance improvement lead since 2019, during which time he worked with the Lagavulin team as well as teams at the company’s other distilleries. Prior to joining Diageo he worked in the merchant navy.

As distillery manager at Lagavulin, Paisley succeeds Pierrick Guillaume, who joined Lagavulin in 2020 and is now returning to his native France.

“Coming from Islay, it’s a real source of pride to be given the chance to manage one of Scotland, and the world’s, most iconic distilleries,” said Paisley.

“Pierrick has been such a great source of knowledge and support since I joined Diageo. I can’t thank him enough and wish him all the best as he embarks on his next chapter in France.

“I can’t wait to get started and look forward to supporting the team to continue producing such a high-quality and highly revered product.”

Diageo’s senior site manager, Laura Beadell, said Guillaume “did a brilliant job for Lagavulin and for Diageo”.

“We are sad to see him go, and we will miss him, but he leaves with the best wishes of the entire team,” she said.

“I am delighted that the distillery operations will now be in Jordan’s very capable hands, and I look forward to working closely with him to continue to build on the excellent reputation Lagavulin’s whiskies enjoy.”
