Drinks show set for debut

Inaugural event to take place in Edinburgh in May

MORE than 300 drinks products and a host of live demonstrations and guest speakers will be brought under one roof when a new trade show makes its debut in the capital in May.

Taking place on 24th and 25th May at Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC), In Drinks will showcase products across all drinks categories, from beers, spirits and low and no-alcohol to soft drinks and hot beverages.

Organisers KD Media – the company behind drinks awards schemes such as the Scottish Gin Awards – said an ‘industry-led advisory board’ for the show has been formed, which includes Jason Cockburn from Heineken, Dave Grant from Fierce Beer, Paul Miller from Eden Mill and Scott Gemmell; it will be chaired by Adam Hardie, head of food and drink at Johnston Carmichael chartered accountants.

The event, which aims to attract 2000 trade visitors over the two days, is being supported by industry partners including the WSTA, CGA Strategy, mindful drinking group Club Soda, and industry charities The Ben and The Drinks Trust.

Kirsten Speirs, managing director of KD Media, described In Drinks as a “high energy show which will include live demonstrations, a busy show floor, guest speakers and business networking”.

“Edinburgh is one of the best business destinations in the world and Scotland is the home of world-leading spirits, high quality brewing and innovative low and no-alcohol drinks,” she said.

“We are very much marketing this show across the UK and looking forward to welcoming the industry to Scotland and promoting the quality and diversity of drinks products available.”

Marshall Dallas, chief executive of EICC, said: “We’re thrilled to be host venue for In Drinks’ inaugural event

“Trade shows such as this are so important in bringing industry peers together to make connections and inspire new business opportunities – something that we are passionate about supporting here at the EICC.”

Registration for the event is available at In-Drinks.com until 16th May.
