IT’S the season for giving at East Lothian bar and restaurant Mercat Grill, as the business pledges support for a number of good causes.
The venue will participate in the Mission Christmas campaign for Cash for Kids, by collecting gifts which will then be distributed to local disadvantaged children. Last year the Mission Christmas campaign provided gifts to 14,473 children across Edinburgh, the Lothians, Fife and Falkirk.
Mercat customers are being encouraged to drop wrapped gifts into the venue between now and 20th December, together with a note indicating which age range the gift is suitable for.
Owner Graham Blaikie said: “We have always been big supporters of Cash for Kids and as we’re fully open now, we wanted to get involved in their Mission Christmas campaign – so we can try and collect as many gifts as possible, to really brighten Christmas Day for children across East Lothian and beyond.”
And on 5th December the venue will host its Santa Paws event in aid of animal charities the Edinburgh Dog & Cat Home and Guide Dogs Scotland.
The breakfast event will see dog owners able to tuck into bacon or egg rolls, while their pooches can enjoy their own snacks as well as receiving a Christmas gift.
Tickets to the event cost £10 per person (and pet), with all proceeds going to the charities.
