THE operator of an award-winning Isle of Mull pub gutted by fire last month has vowed to rebuild it.

Neil Morrison said he hopes to have Macgochans in Tobermory back up and running as soon as possible following the blaze in the early hours of Friday May 24.

Four fire engines were on the scene after the alarm was raised around 4.30am by a local fisherman.

Neil, who has been at the helm of the business for over a decade, said he aims to reinstate Macgochans, which was named SLTN Independent Pub of the Year in 2014 and 2017, as soon as possible.

“Thankfully no one was hurt,” he said.

“It is devastating. The building is in a bad way but I hope to rebuild it as soon as I can.”
