It’s the end of an era on Skye after restaurateurs Shirley and Eddie Spear sold their business after more than three decades.

The Spears took over The Three Chimneys in 1985 and have developed it into an award-winning restaurant with rooms, which has gone on to win numerous accolades, while Shirley has become an ambassador for Scottish food and drink.

She was presented with an OBE for services to the industry in 2016 and the SLTN Award for Industry Achievement in 2017.

The couple has sold the business to hotelier Gordon Campbell Gray (read more here).

Shirley said: “We have now reached a point in our lives where we want to travel more and work a little less.

“Our focus has been on finding the right person who shares our vision for what The Three Chimneys can develop further for the long-term future, and we are pleased to have found that person in Gordon.”
