Colonsay Gin makes island move

Wild Thyme Spirits’ Fin and Eileen Geekie have moved production to Colonsay

WILD Thyme Spirits, founded by husband and wife team, Fin and Eileen Geekie, has moved production of its Colonsay Gin to the Inner Hebridean island which bears its name and announced an exclusive agreement to forage for botanicals on the island.

The first batch of Colonsay made on the isle is expected to run from the still in late May.

The couple, who moved to Colonsay from Oxfordshire in 2016, launched the gin in 2017 with the help of Perthshire distillery Strathearn; the team at Strathearn also assisted with the production move.

Wild Thyme Spirits negotiated the deal to hand-forage for botanicals on the island with the Colonsay Estate. The agreement sees the firm able to forage on the gardens and grounds of Colonsay House, which contains a large variety of plants, giving the distillers the capacity to experiment with an array of botanicals and create more products.
