Aiming for perfection

Mike McGinty of The Voyage of Buck in Edinburgh (centre) won last year’s competition.

SCOTTISH bartenders have just under a week to enter an international cocktail competition for tequila brand Patrón.

Entries for this year’s Patrón Perfectionists competition will close at midnight on June 18. The competition, which was last year won by Edinburgh bartender Mike McGinty of The Voyage of Buck, is this year running in eighteen different countries.

UK regional heats will take place between July 12 and August 8, before a UK final in the autumn.

The winner of the UK stages will then progress to the semi-final, to be held on January 17 in Mexico, before the global final the following day.

McGinty said participating in the competition last year “was an incredible experience which has certainly helped raise the profile of me personally and for my bar”.

Bartenders can enter at patronperfectionists.com/2017/entry/uk.html, where they will be asked for details about themselves, their bar and a suggested serve for Patrón.
