FOOD and drink took centre stage in Paisley last weekend as the UK City of Culture candidate’s Abbey Close flourished with more than 30 street food traders and producers, while beer lovers were out in force for the beer festival at Paisley Town Hall.
The double header, which saw the 30th annual Paisley Beer Festival run alongside the third annual Paisley Food Festival, forms part of Paisley’s bid to become UK City of Culture in 2021.
Weekend highlights included a series of cooking demonstrations from Masterchef winner Gary Maclean, family entertainment from CBeebies star Katy Ashworth as well as a celebration of the 30th anniversary of St Mirren’s 1987 Scottish Cup victory.
Beer festival organiser David Cassidy of CAMRA said the group had been “delighted” to celebrate with St Mirren, and added that this year’s event had more beers to try than ever before.
