Chance to snap up film star hotel

A HOTEL that’s featured on the British silver screen is up for sale.

The Ellangowan Hotel doubled as the fictitious Green Man pub in 1973 British horror film The Wicker Man.
Said to benefit from its prominent location in the seaside village of Creetown, near Newton Stewart in Dumfries & Galloway, the hotel is split over three floors and comprises eight en suite bedrooms (which have been recently refurbished), a public bar with pool table, a restaurant, and a beer garden; it also benefits from off-street parking.

Currently run to suit the owner’s requirements, the hotel currently operates on a bed and breakfast basis alongside the public bar; it is therefore said to offer new owners scope to expand and develop the business further.
Graeme Smith of Smith & Clough, who is handling the sale of the business, said the hotel “offers a great opportunity for a first time buyer, private operator or chef proprietor”.
