City venue to trade places

GLASGOW pub Trader Joes is undergoing a major refurbishment to transform the outlet into a contemporary Scottish bar and restaurant.

The £430,000 project is being joint-funded by Heineken-owned Star Pubs & Bars and lessees Neil Douglas, who also runs Café Antipasti on Sauchiehall Street with his wife Julie, and Billy Mcaneney – the operator behind Glasgow venues including Baby Grand Bar & Grill, Ad Lib, Mercado, Websters Bar & Bistro and Cottiers Bar & Restaurant.
To be called Ardnamurchan, the revamped Hope Street venue is set to open in May with a food offer boasting venison from Ardnamurchan Estate and langoustine from Mull as well as over 50 Scottish whiskies.
Neil Douglas said: “Julie’s family goes back ten generations in Ardnamurchan and we’ll be using those links to bring some outstanding produce to Glasgow.”
