Soba sets sights on expansion

GLASGOW-based bar and restaurant group Bar Soba is gearing up for a major expansion which will more than double its estate.

The company, founded by Brad Stevens (pictured) in 1997 with a pop-up restaurant at the Edinburgh Festival, currently operates five venues across Edinburgh, Glasgow and Leeds.
The expansion plans, which are being backed by a £3 million investment by the Business Growth Fund, will see it add a further seven venues, with the firm considering sites in Aberdeen, Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle.
Stevens said the move will help Bar Soba become a “truly national brand”.
“I’m really excited about our ambitious expansion plans and that we’ve found the right partner to provide the funding and expertise we need to accelerate our growth,” he said.
