A GLASGOW licensee pulled out all the stops last weekend to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his pub.
Billy Gold marked the milestone at Hielan Jessie – the Gallowgate pub opened by his father 30 years ago – with a party and karaoke night; further events and giveaways are planned for the coming weeks. Billy said the celebrations are intended to “give something back to the customers”.
“Our suppliers have helped us give something back to them; we’ve got a 30-year relationship with Tennent’s and they’ve been very supportive, as have Diageo, Maxxium and Scottish Leader,” he said.
“I think the fact we’ve stuck to the ethos of the pub – no TV, no jukebox, no amusement machines – has worked for us.
“We’ve had some great times.”
