PUBS across the UK can get behind this month’s Commonwealth Games through a limited edition ale brewed to commemorate the event.

Commonwealth Gold, which recently received the backing of Scottish rugby legends Gavin and Scott Hastings, was launched by Edinburgh’s Caledonian Brewery and parent company Heineken, which is the official Glasgow 2014 beer and cider provider, at a special event in Glasgow’s Bon Accord pub last week.
The 3.9% ABV ale is made using ingredients from around the Commonwealth, including hops from Australia, England and New Zealand and malt from local Scottish suppliers.
Caledonian Brewery managing director Andy Maddock said the ale was produced so that pubs across the country can “share in the celebration and excitement of the Games”.
“We’re really proud of what we’ve produced and proud of our association with the Games,” said Maddock at the launch.
Commonwealth Gold will be available to pubs from the middle of this month and throughout the Games.
