Japanese move for Scots brewer

THE Arran Brewery has announced plans to open Scotland’s first sake brewery following the acquisition of a five-acre site in Dreghorn.

The property, a former primary school, comprises three buildings, which the company plans to convert into a brewery, research and development centre and a brewing and distilling training school.
Planning permission is to be lodged in the coming weeks, and Arran Brewery managing director Gerald Michaluk said he hoped to begin production next winter.
