STRONG sales of Paisley-based Chivas Brothers’ blended Scotch whiskies are credited with helping the firm post “impressive” sales figures for the year to the end of June.

A record 4.6 million nine-litre cases of Chivas Regal were sold in the year, beating the previous peak in 2007/2008, and representing a 7% increase in volumes on the last financial year.
Premium variants of the blend performed particularly well, with sales of Chivas Regal 18 up 23% and Chivas Regal 25 up 70% on last year.
Chivas, owned by spirits giant Pernod Ricard, also reported strong sales of sister blends Royal Salute and Ballantine’s, which rose 27% and 8% respectively.
Sales of single malt The Glenlivet topped 700,000 nine-litre cases, up 14% on last year, while Beefeater gin saw an uplift of 4%.
“These impressive growth figures represent historical highs for many of our brands and demonstrate the depth of our aged whisky and premium gin portfolio,” said Chivas Brothers’ chief executive Christian Porta.
