Hospitality Health – the Scottish charity dedicated to improving health and wellbeing in the hospitality & tourism industry – has renewed the award of its prized Wellness Charter to the Manorview Group.

The Wellness Charter recognises businesses which are putting the right steps and mechanisms in place to support the mental and emotional wellbeing of their staff.

The Manorview Group was one of the first Scottish hospitality businesses to secure the plaudit, but under Hospitality Health’s commitment to ongoing awareness and improvement of staff mental health care, each Charter awarded needs to be reaffirmed every three years.

Manorview has passed this milestone with flying colours, having taken steps to develop an ‘all-encompassing programme of staff support’ which relates directly to the workplace but also acknowledges the wider work-life relationship.

Speaking at the presentation, Mhairi Strohm, L&D manager at Manorview, said: “Focusing on the wellbeing of our team, we have mental health first aiders, wellness training, and development training for all of our team members.

“Taking great care of our team is such a vital aspect of our business. After all, we expect them to take great care of our wonderful guests.

“We are delighted to be reaccredited with the Charter from Hospitality Health.”

Manorview’s head of people, Amy Scott-Carmichael, said: “People really are at the heart of everything that we do. Working alongside Mhairi and the wider team ensuring that we have a happy and supported team is our priority and we are delighted that we have the steps in place to ensure this and that it has been recognised.”

Charity founder Gordon McIntyre MBE commented: “What we are trying to achieve with Hospitality Health is to equip the hospitality and tourism sector with the right tools and mental health first aid training to not only address mental health, but to put staff welfare first.

“We launched Hospitality Health in Glasgow eight years ago with over 120 operators in attendance and we have grown considerably, post-pandemic, with a real need for mental health support.”

Strohm added: “Gordon and the team at Hospitality Health are so passionate about helping those that work in the industry by providing invaluable information to anyone that may be facing work or personal worries.

“This is a fantastic charity that is definitely needed in an industry that, whilst very rewarding, can also be challenging at times!”
