A record number of cyclists turned out for the tenth year of Uncle Bob Taylor’s Cycle run – and it turns out that they also raised a record sum of cash for the event’s nominated charity partner, Hospitality Health.
In total, 37 cyclists took part in the day, raising a total of £15,000 for the Scottish charity, which was founded by Gordon McIntyre to improve health and wellbeing in the hospitality & tourism industry.
The cycle event, created by drinks industry veteran Taylor, took place in June this year, with participants following a 53-mile route around Ayrshire, beginning and ending at Manorview’s Bowfield Hotel & Spa.
Appropriately, the cheque hand over was also hosted at Bowfield, where Taylor said: “We are delighted to support Gordon and the team at Hospitality Health. Being able to hand over a cheque for over £15,000 is a record amount raised for the Uncle Bob Cycle event, and we know it is going to a very worthwhile cause.”
The event was supported by Steve Graham of Manorview, Michele Pagliocca of Monteleone Group and the director of sport was Robert Campbell.
McIntyre commented: “We are delighted to get support from Bob, Steve, Michele, Robert and all the cyclists who took part. We never expected the event to raise as much as this, so we are over the moon with such a fabulous donation. It is a brilliant partnership we have now developed.”
Steve, Michele and Robert added: “We are thrilled with all the funds now collected to have raised such a fantastic amount, It will set the bar high for next year!”
