Award-winning Inver Restaurant & Rooms goes up for sale

Inver Restaurant & Rooms, next to Loch Fyne

Described as a ‘shining little jewel in the crown of the Scottish dining scene’, the Inver Restaurant & Rooms on the shores of Loch Fyne is now on the market through The Restaurant Agency.

Housed in a restored 18th Century crofters’ cottage with an adjacent car park and neighbouring bothies and shepherd’s huts, the site has operated for the last ten years as a ‘wildly successful’ multi award-winning offering from acclaimed Scottish chef and writer, Pam Brunton and business partner Rob Latimer.

Since opening in 2015, Inver Restaurant & Rooms has evolved into ‘a very successful entity’, gaining a rare Michelin Green Star  – one of only four in Scotland – for both sustainable and eco-friendly gastronomy, as well as an AA Guide 3 AA rosette rating, upgraded to a 4 AA Rosette rating just as SLTN went to press.

In addition, the business has featured in the National Restaurant Awards Top 100 restaurants for the last six years, with a high of No.23 coinciding with winning the Best Restaurant in Scotland award, and currently boasts a 36K following on Instagram.

The site’s original croft buildings were restored in the late 1960s, and currently function as the bar area, plus the large storage room afforded by the former boatshed.

At the same time as that restoration, the buildings were connected by a new space which is now the light-filled restaurant and spacious kitchen.

The white-washed cottage is deliberately understated from the outside, not giving away its restaurant status and blending in with its surroundings, despite packing a punch within for its contemporary food offering focussing on sustainable practices and the local food larder.

The site’s four eco-bothies were completed and opened in 2018, and then two shepherds’ huts were opened in 2021, all adjacent to the main building, creating the ‘perfect combination of fine dining, a nightcap and a short walk to your accommodation’.

The business’s rise has meant much re-investment into the infrastructure of both the restaurant and room offerings, and it reportedly comes to market with some reluctance, but in the knowledge that it is the optimum time for both Pam and Rob to move on to ventures new.

Offers over £275,000 are sought for the leasehold interest, which includes the freehold element of the two shepherds huts and two separate leases, one for the restaurant and the other for the four eco-bothies, both running until at least 2035.

Restaurant Agency director Alan Goldie said: “We are delighted to have been invited to offer the Inver Restaurant & Rooms to the market and to work with our clients Pam and Rob in pursuit of a suitable buyer to take over at the helm and continue to drive the business and its personality forward into the next decade.

“All comforts and accolades aside this is a truly exceptional business which would suit in particular another chef-led operator who given the current business structure in place can step in and add their own culinary stamp on the business in a tranquil setting away from city life.”
