Cask ale pub The Stockbridge Tap closes for refurbishment

The Stockbridge Tap

Specialist cask beer pub The Stockbridge Tap has closed its doors for an extensive refurbishment.

Known for its dedication to independent breweries and it’s ‘proper pub’ atmosphere, the award-winning venue on Edinburgh’s Raeburn Place announced that it is ‘taking a brief hiatus to refresh it’s historic space’.

The refurbishment aims to enhance the customer experience ‘without losing the soul’ that has made the pub a cornerstone of the Stockbridge community for years.

The Stockbridge Tap is a multi-award winner, celebrated for its extensive cask ale selection, most recently named as Edinburgh’s best pub in the 2025 CAMRA Edinburgh & South East Scotland Pub of the Year awards.

When reopened, it will continue to focus on its curated selection of cask beers from independent breweries, alongside an offering of world beers, wines and spirits, and a small food menu.

“The Stockbridge Tap has always been an Edinburgh institution, and we take that responsibility seriously,” said bar manager Neil Hunter.

“Our goal isn’t to change what The ‘Tap is or who we are; but to keep the heart of the pub and to give our loyal regulars and new customers a better version of the local they love.”

While the doors are closed, the team will be working hard towards its reopening, with an official date for that to be announced in the coming weeks.

During the closure, customers have been invited to stay up to date with the progress by following The Stockbridge Tap on Instagram and Facebook.
