Royal Mile Whiskies held its 2026 Glasgow Trade Show in the spectacular setting of Oran Mor’s main hall last month, where the sunlight spilling through stained glass perfectly complemented the colourful array of spirits on offer.

With an enthusiastic and knowledgeable young team of drinks aficionados on board, the company has moved past its origins ‘selling whisky to tourists in Edinburgh’ and is building a solid reputation with the Glasgow trade.

Royal Mile’s Stuart Smith said that he was ‘very happy’ with the trade turn out at the event, and the progress of his team’s overall efforts to increase awareness of the company as a one-stop-shop for a whole range of spirits beyond its titular whisky.

“This is only the second time we’ve put on a show in Glasgow, and it is still about tweaking the line up, getting the right mix of suppliers in to appeal to our trade customers,” said Smith.

This year, taking advantage of the Oran Mor main hall’s permanent bar, Royal Mile added a popular new element to the show by staging a multi-round cocktail competition, with over 20 professional barstaff getting involved.

“The trade side has been our big development over the last three or four years, and that is all about having the right people representing us,” added Smith. “We are delighted with the team we’ve built.”

Royal Mile Whiskies“There’s a lot of passionate drinks people out there in the trade, and we needed our own people to reflect that passion.

“We want to have the sense that, when someone from our company walks into your venue, you can be sure that it’ll be someone who knows what they are talking about.”
