Andy Hadden, founder of the Lost Shore Surf Resort at Ratho, has been named Director of the Year at the 15th Annual Business Awards hosted by Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce.
This award for Hadden follows Lost Shore being named as the ‘World’s Best Surf Park’ in a ranking published by global visitor attractions resource, Blooloop.
The product of a 10-year-long personal effort by Hadden, Lost Shore Surf Resort opened in late 2024, and then welcomed 200,000 visitors over its first full year in business, with many travelling from all over the world to enjoy both its state-of-the-art wave pool, and its hospitality offer.

Blooloop’s praise noted that, unlike the vast majority of artificial surf attractions, Lost Shore incorporates a variety of accommodation options to let its guests stay overnight, plus a high-quality food hub.
The Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce award, presented in front of more than 600 guests representing over 160 companies from across the capital, was given to Hadden for the ‘vision and determination’ he deployed to turn his bold idea into reality.

Hadden said: “It’s an incredible honour to be recognised by the Edinburgh business community.
“Lost Shore has always been about building something ambitious here in Scotland, creating jobs, attracting international visitors and delivering a world-class experience. This award belongs to the entire team who believed in the vision and worked tirelessly to make it a reality.”
