Thainstone House, an 18th-century country house hotel in Inverurie, north-west of Aberdeen, has welcomed Sayan Bandyopadhyay as its new head chef.

Bandyopadhyay has led a shake-up of the hotel’s food and beverage offering, introducing a brand-new menu ready for the festive season.

In his 20-year kitchen career, Sayan has opened and operated two brand-new hotels in Aberdeen, The Hilton Aberdeen TECA and The Aloft Aberdeen TECA in 2019.

Before that, he worked at Doubletree by Hilton, Crown Plaza, and The Balmoral Hotel, amongst others.

Thainstone House, which is part of the Crerar Hotels Collection, is home to the AA Rosette The Green Lady restaurant, and the recently refreshed Stockman’s Bar.

General manager Natalie Malcolm said: “I am thrilled that Sayan has started at Thainstone House. Relaunching Stockman’s with a new relaxed menu has received great feedback so far and we are positive that the new menu will go down well with both hotel guests and locals.

“We also have a calendar of events at the hotel throughout December, so I am looking forward to welcoming more people to re-experience Thainstone House.”
