Sebb’s, Scoop Restaurant Group’s bold bar-restaurant on Glasgow’s Miller Street, is celebrating its swaggering first year in business.
The restaurant’s ‘punchy small plates and lively bar atmosphere’ have been a major hit since it opened its doors last autumn, earning it a very early inclusion in the Michelin Guide.
But while welcoming that Michelin nod as a ‘huge honour’, what matters most to the Sebb’s team is seeing their space ‘full, busy and alive’ – to which end it has highlighted some significant year one figures.
Scoop Restaurant Group managing director Jonathan MacDonald said: “When we opened Sebb’s, we hoped it would connect with people – but seeing nearly 90,000 guests through the door in year one has been incredible.
“Glasgow loves margaritas and chips, that much is clear – we’ve shaken nearly 15,000 margs and served over 19,000 portions of spiced fries.”
The 68-cover basement venue has also shucked over 6500 oysters, served over 12,000 portions of pakora, almost 10,000 DC’s Texan hotlink sausages, and 8600 plates of house hummus.
Sebb’s bartenders have been busy too, serving almost 5000 cherry sours, to randomly pick just one item from its popular cocktail menu.
“These numbers aren’t just stats to us,” said MacDonald. “They represent conversations, shared plates, date nights, catch-ups and celebrations. They reflect the energy of the team and the buzz that builds when you get the experience right.
“I’m proud of what we’ve achieved in just 12 months, and it’s been brilliant to watch Danny [Carruthers] and the kitchen crew shape something that’s truly theirs,” he added.
“The recognition from Michelin was a huge honour, but what matters most is seeing the space full, busy and alive. That’s what Sebb’s is all about.”

Head chef Carruthers, who started with the group at Ox and Finch almost a decade ago, leads a kitchen ‘focused on bold, global flavours, grilled over charcoal’, with dishes inspired by everything from Texas barbecue to Levantine street food.
- To celebrate its first birthday, Sebb’s is now offering El Jimador Pineapple Verdita Margaritas for just £6.80, from Wednesday to Friday.
