On your marks for this year’s Hospitality Elf Festive Fun 5k

Gordon McIntyre and his Clayton Hotel helpers…

Industry charity Hospitality Health is calling on supporters to sign up to its annual Hospitality Elf 5K fun run, which helps raise funds to provide essential mental health and wellbeing support to the licensed trade.

Organised in partnership with the Clayton hotel, on Glasgow’s Clydeside, the Hospitality Elf run takes place on Saturday 22nd November from 9am.

Fancy dress is optional – but it’s not got ‘elf’ in its name for nothing – and participants can walk, jog or run the 5k route, which goes along the Clyde walkway and around the perimeter of Glasgow Green, then circles back to the Clayton for well-earned hot drinks and snacks.

Everyone is welcome to join, with running registrations now open. Cost per runner is £5 with all funds going to the Hospitality Health charity.

Charity founder Gordon McIntyre MBE said: “What a great idea from Hazel at the Clayton; get the family out on a Saturday morning for fresh air and exercise before the Christmas madness hits!’

“In doing so, we can raise funds to support the charity. The fundraising will go towards the training of staff in the industry with a qualification in Mental Health First Aid,” explained McIntyre.

“It’s been a tough time for the staff in the hospitality industry and we are supporting them in their wellbeing and promoting positive action towards their mental health. Thanks to the team at Clayton hotel for all their support.”

Clayton Hotel general manager Hazel Galloway said: “Gordon and the team at Hospitality Health are so passionate about helping those that work in the industry by providing invaluable information to anyone that may be facing work or personal worries.

“We have communicated the Hospitality Health website to all our team and will continue to remind them that there is a wider support network of like-minded professionals who they can connect with should they wish.

“This is a fantastic charity that is current and needed in an industry that, whilst is very rewarding, can be very tough!”

The 5k is being sponsored by HRC Recruitment, whose director Matt Brown added: “We are delighted to support the event, getting out in the fresh air and exercise is so important to positive mental health and wellbeing.

“Hospitality Health are doing a huge amount to support the industry and we are delighted to play our part.”

This year, all who register and attend the Hospitality Elf run will be entered in a prize draw, with the opportunity to win a two-night stay at the Loch Fyne Hotel & Spa, Inveraray.
