Something wicked is stirring high up in Edinburgh’s St James Quarter – where the Duck & Waffle restaurant is cooking up a Halloween partnership with The Scotch Malt Whisky Society.
With the help of performances from North Edinburgh Nightmares, the two are putting on ‘Tales & Tastings: A Halloween Whisky Experience’, described as a one-off spine-chilling evening of storytelling, whisky, and elevated seasonal dining.
Scheduled for Thursday, 30th October, the event will include a guided tasting of distinctive drams from The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, each with its own story to tell, alongside autumnal cocktails crafted especially for the evening, and a curated small plates pairing menu of Duck & Waffle’s signature dishes, each with Halloween twists.

“We wanted to create something truly unique for Halloween – where the warmth of a great Scotch meets the thrill of local ghost stories,” said Duck & Waffle general manager Alexander Winter.
“With our partners, we’re bringing an experience that celebrates the best of Scottish whisky, storytelling, and seasonal indulgence.”
European marketing manager at The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, Ria McAdam, added: “Darker evenings and cooler weather are when our whisky truly comes to life.
“We’re thrilled to kick off whisky season with Duck & Waffle and North Edinburgh Nightmares, offering guests bold, mischievous drams as distinctive as this special event.”

Over the years, North Edinburgh Nightmares has specialised in collecting and recounting the many frightening stories connected to the city’s stately homes, cemeteries and landmarks.
