Sponsored Feature with MOËT HENNESSY UK
FOR the latest in our series of wine and food columns with Moët Hennessy UK, SLTN visited Cuvée in Glasgow’s west end to talk quality Argentinian wines and small plate food with assistant general manager Donald Horne.
Cuvée, described as a ‘Champagne, wine and cheese bar’ boasts an extensive list of wines and Champagnes by the glass as well as a selection of small plates and bites. The venue sits in the same building as sister bars The Drake and Rascal and is part of the Merchant City Pubs & Bars Group, which also owns venues including BAaD and Blackfriars.
What is the offer at Cuvée?
Donald Horne, assistant general manager: “What we offer more than anywhere else, I think, is we have a bigger selection of wines by the glass. We’ve got ten whites, ten reds and about seven Champagnes by the glass. So we’ve got more variety and more options for people to order from.
“Food-wise we do small plates which range from light, summery cold dishes to hot dishes. And we’ve also got a cheeseboard that we do with George Mewes Cheese and a kind of mezze platter that’s got meats and cheeses on it as well.
“We’ve also got bar snacks and nibbles; it’s a good selection and variety of things to go with what we sell by the glass.”

What do you like about Moët Hennessy’s Terrazas range of wines?
Donald: “The Chardonnay is oaked but just for about nine months, so there’s not a heavy amount of oak.
“The Malbec is a slightly different one. It’s an interesting, but really good taste you get from it. It’s about 12 months oaked and, with it being organic, you do get that extra wee bit of depth from it. What I’ve found when people have tried it is they say ‘oh, that’s not like the Argentinian Malbec I’ve tried before’.
“Both of those wines are really good sellers and talking points.”
What food will you be pairing with the wines?
Donald: “We’ve got a melon, ham and burrata dish and a prawn tempura to pair with the Chardonnay. And we’ve got the chicken liver parfait and the charcuterie board with the Malbec.
“The Chardonnay’s not massively oaked but it’s got that cream profile, which goes well with the nice smooth aspect you’ll get from the burrata. The sweetness of the melon sits on it really nicely. It’s just really refreshing. And the tempura is light battered and the chilli sauce has a bit of lime through it, a bit of sweetness, which fits with the Chardonnay.
“We’ve got a boar meat with the charcuterie. The colour is amazing, and when you look at it with a glass of red you know you’re in for a good time. And for those lighter flavours – plum, berry – there’s a fig chutney with the charcuterie board.
“The chicken liver parfait has that kind of depth to it but, again, a light taste and texture.
“The Malbec’s a 2022 so it’s not old by any stretch of the imagination, but it’s got a wee bit of ageing on it, so it’s not going to be too heavy for the pâté.”
Why is Cuvée a good fit for Terrazas de los Andes?
Sarah Farrugia, on-trade account manager, Moët Hennessy UK: “Cuvée’s sophisticated and inviting atmosphere in the heart of the west end makes it an ideal venue to showcase the nuanced terroir of Argentina through Terrazas de los Andes. This partnership underscores the importance of aligning premium wine offerings from the Moët Hennessy portfolio with leading hospitality venues to elevate the customer experience.
“Cuvée’s carefully curated menu of small plates and sharing boards provides a fitting complement to these elegant wines for wine enthusiasts looking for something special.”
