Scottish licensed trade veteran Paul Waterson has been appointed as the new chair of the Scottish Alcohol Industry Partnership, the industry’s platform to promote responsible drinking.
Waterson is a highly respected figure in the trade, having worked in his family business for over 50 years, as well as being a former chief executive of the Scottish Licensed Trade Association and a current Patron of The Benevolent Society of the Licensed Trade of Scotland.
He said: “I am delighted to be taking over as chair of the partnership which I have been involved with since it began.
“I look forward to working with the partners and the organisations it supports to deliver impactful initiatives to promote responsible consumption and tackle harmful drinking.
“The industry has an important part to play in tackling alcohol misuse in Scotland and the partnership is a key element of that activity.”
Waterson takes over from Kieran Healey-Ryder of whisky makers Whyte and Mackay.
Healey-Ryder commented: “I am handing over the reins to Paul at a critical time for the on and off trade and I am sure his knowledge and wisdom will increase the positive impact the Scottish Alcohol Industry Partnership has on our communities.”
