In an extraordinary anniversary, Kevin and Lynsey Hewitson are marking 20 years of service – and love – that all began at The RAD Hotel Group’s Lochside House Hotel.
The couple first met in 2005 while working together at Lochside; Lynsey manned the phones as a receptionist and Kevin ‘buzzed about’ the restaurant. What began as shared shifts and a passion for hospitality quickly became a shared life, with two flourishing hospitality careers that have since taken them both from entry-level roles to leadership positions within the hotel and leisure group.
Two decades later, Lynsey serves as director of weddings and events and Kevin as operations director for The RAD Hotel Group.
Lynsey said: “How did 20 years pass so quickly? It’s been a rollercoaster adventure, both professionally and personally!
“It took us nearly three years working together at Lochside before we finally got together. I was fully committed as the first wedding & events coordinator, and Kevin had just been promoted to operations manager.
“Two years later, on the anniversary of our first date at Edinburgh Zoo, we were married, and of course, it was at Lochside! We had a beautiful candlelit wedding, surrounded by friends, family, and the entire Lochside hotel team, who have become more like family to us.
“Since then, as the RAD portfolio has grown, so has our own family as we welcomed our daughter Ella in 2012.”
Speaking about working together at Lochside, Lynsey continued: “We’ve had our fair share of wedding dramas. Years ago, I once arranged for a lamb to surprise a bride who adored them, but didn’t quite consider the logistics.
“Picture a lamb fresh from a field, a bride in a white dress… and the chaos that followed. Thankfully, Kevin was on hand to manage the mess and save the moment!
“Through every challenge and milestone, we’ve grown together and worked hard to inspire the same passion and care in our teams. Here’s to the next 20 years working at The RAD Hotel Group.”
