In the weddings business, Valentine’s day is recognised as the very peak of ‘engagement season’ – so tomorrow, and indeed tonight, will see a spike in couples searching for wedding venues.

So what better time for entrepreneurial chef-patron Dean Banks to re-open his ‘Dean Banks at The Pompadour’ restaurant for weddings and special events?

Sitting within the historic Caledonian Hotel on Edinburgh’s Princes Street, the Michelin-recommended venue blends fine dining with the ‘fairy-tale elegance’ of hand-painted walls, intricate cornices, and panoramic views of Edinburgh Castle.

This historic space has not been available for weddings since Banks took charge of it three years ago, but true to his adaptable business ethos, he has now decided to welcome back that matrimonial money.

The Fife-based chef, known for his commitment to local Scottish produce, is offering bespoke wedding menus tailored to each couple, from reimagined favourite dishes to ingredients that celebrate their heritage.

Accommodating up to 60 guests, the 3 AA rosette venue can seamlessly transition from ceremony to reception, offering three or five-course menus described as some of the best special occasion dining in the country.

The Pompadour also boasts a charming private dining room, ideal for a welcome breakfast, cocktail hour, and adaptable as an evening bar.

Banks said: “We know the winter season is very busy for engagements, so it’s a pleasure to reopen our doors for weddings, offering couples a unique blend of historic elegance and exceptional cuisine.

“Our team is dedicated to creating memorable experiences that honour the significance of your special day, however you’d like to celebrate it.”
