Nothing says ‘Palentine’s Day’ quite like eating an unlimited quantity of rare meat and skinny fries, washed down with Scottish beer.
At least, that is Innis & Gunn’s marketing gambit for February 13th, the anti-Valentines Day, when singletons and the chronically unromantic head out to spend the money that they won’t be wasting on chocolates and flowers on the 14th.
As part of the Scottish brewers’ ongoing campaign of promotional stunts, fronted by comedian Paul Dockery, the Palentine’s Day offer of unlimited steak frites was highlighted by a visit from Scottish haggis-eating champion, Alastair Ross, who put away five portions as the cameras rolled on another Innis & Gunn mockumentary.

Now the brewer is challenging Scots to see if they can match the Perthshire-based butcher, who first shot to fame when he scoffed a whole haggis in under a minute last year.
Ross, seven-time World Haggis Eating Champion at the Birnam Highland Games, said: “When Innis & Gunn challenged me with putting the unlimited deal to the test, I was chuffed. For me, there’s nothing better than devouring plate after plate of steak and chips.
“I’d love to see how many challengers are willing to take me on. If anyone manages to beat my record, it’s an excuse for me to come back and reclaim my title.”
Dougal Sharp, founder of Innis & Gunn, added: “Quality beer and Scottish steak are a match made in heaven, which is why they’ve become a firm favourite on our taproom menus.

“There’s nothing better than being in the pub with your mates, and with Palentine’s around the corner, what better way to celebrate friendship than with endless steak and beer?”
The unlimited steak frites offer is available on Palentine’s Day, 13th February, across all three Innis & Gunn taprooms – so customers can ‘bring along a mate’ to indulge with.
For £19.95, diners can enjoy a sampler of Innis & Gunn Original, followed by 35-day dry-aged Scottish steak with unlimited garlic butter house frites and the brewery’s signature steak sauce.
For one day only, it’s not just the chips that are bottomless. Palentine’s Day diners can enjoy unlimited steak as well, if they’re up for the challenge.

Of course, for those coupled up, a more conventional Valentine’s treat will be available the following day – a free glass of prosecco or a pint with any steak frites booking.
