Independent Scottish hospitality group Manorview will this year be sharing £124,891 of profits with team members from across the 12 venues it owns and operates.
As has become traditional, Manorview broke this news to its team at an all-expenses-paid celebratory event, held last weekend.
Annually, Manorview’s ‘Heartcount’ scheme sees it share 10% of net profits with its workforce. Everyone who has been with the business for 12 months or more qualifies.
This year that meant that 476 individuals – approximately 85% of the total team – met the criteria to receive a profit share payment.
To keep the profit share scheme as fair as possible, each eligible person’s payment is calculated based on the hours they have worked for the Manorview business, not on their job title or pay.
This means that regardless of whether someone is a director, housekeeper, manager, chef or kitchen porter, they get the same amount for the same hours.
Head of people at Manorview, Dani Fraser, said “We are very proud of our Heartcount profit share scheme. Everyone, regardless of role, makes a positive contribution to Manorview and it’s only right that they then receive something in return.”
The Heartcount profit share is now the only monetary based bonus at Manorview, which moved away from performance or target related bonuses for its managers or sales team several years ago.
Dani continued: “Fairness is the heart of so many of our decisions, and the fact is it’s not just senior or sales team who make things happen here, this is why we structure Heartcount in the way we do.”
Although some of the team won’t qualify for this year’s payment due to length of service, to give everyone thanks and recognition, all team members were invited to this year’s Heartcount Celebrations Event, held on Sunday January 26th at Glasgow venue SWG3, for ‘food, drinks and fun for all’.
Britain’s Got Talent star Edward Reid hosted the start of the event, which featured dancers, roller-skaters and a magician, and a huge game of ‘boozé bingo’ hosted by radio DJ Stevie Lennon.
Once that overall £124,891 figure was unveiled, the team were advised that they’ll receive their payment in early February.
Brand director Kirstin Watson said: “It was fantastic to get the team together to show our thanks and appreciation. The energy in the room was just brilliant – there were glow sticks and foam fingers in the air!
“We’re on a journey to make life better through hospitality, and this event alongside our profit share is just one way we aim to positively support our team.
“It’s very uncommon for businesses (especially in the hospitality sector) to share profits with their team – but we’re determined to not only look after people but show that hospitality can be a fantastic and rewarding career in many ways.”
